What is an “RSU” or restricted stock unit in a nontraded REIT prospectus?

Closeup shot of the word definition in a dictionary. Page curves and has a vignetting or edge burn effect where the corners are darker. Focus is on the word definition.

The “RSU” is a right that is granted the Advisor and the personnel of the Advisor and its affiliates to promote retention of the personnel and alignment of their interests with the REIT’s stockholders. They are subject to specified vesting and settlement provisions.

I have been using Blue Vault Partners for the past five years.  I have found them to be a valuable, unbiased resource when it comes to evaluating and comparing non-traded REITs.  The reports help me analyze which sponsors are doing a responsible job of managing their offerings.  This allows me to limit my REIT recommendations to only the most competitive products, and then track those REITs throughout their life cycle.
