Sila Realty Trust Inc. sold an Eagan data center to Mapletree Industrial Trust for $9 million.
The sale belongs to a portfolio of 29 data center properties that Sila sold to Mapletree for a total of $1.32 billion this year. The acquisition of the Eagan building, located at 3255 Neil Armstrong Blvd., was recorded in an electronic certificate of real estate value published in late July.
Mapletree is a real estate investment trust (REIT) based in Singapore. Operating as ELIAS DC ASSETS LLC and using the address of one of its U.S. offices, Mapletree paid for the Eagan data center in cash, according to the eCRV.
Data centers are used to house enterprise computer systems as well as the networking equipment and hardware needed to ensure the systems are continuously connected to the internet and other business networks. The centers also have infrastructure — like power switches, backup generators and air conditioning — that keep the center running, according to IBM.
