Blue Vault Bowman Alts Week 2020 Kicks Off on Monday, May 4

April 30, 2020 | James Sprow | Blue Vault

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the Blue Vault Bowman Summit 2020 that was scheduled to take place in Atlanta beginning on March 10, the Blue Vault and Bowman Law team turned to the latest technology to create a first-ever “virtual” Summit, entitled “Blue Vault Bowman Alts Week 2020.” On May 4, beginning at 11:00 AM, this groundbreaking approach will bring together over 350 professionals (and counting!) within the alternative investment industry to present a wide variety of valuable insights, opinions, and information.  Beginning with a panel discussion entitled “What Do We Do Now – An Industry Perspective,”  the Summit will bring a full schedule of presentations by alternative asset managers,  fintech firms, and custodian and clearing firms, as well as providing virtual meeting opportunities for broker dealers and RIAs.

The Summit schedule runs through Friday, May 8.  The nine panel discussions by industry professionals and the presentations by twelve fintech providers and custodian firms will be open to all who register for the Summit.  Program sponsors and asset managers will make 12 presentations to BDs and RIAs only, with every session providing time for Q & A, and followed by an exclusive BD / RIA meeting.

The exciting technology that makes the “virtual Summit” possible goes beyond Zoom and GoToMeeting to provide participants a multi-window viewing and interaction environment. Besides seeing the presentation slides and hearing the presenters, windows will also be available to submit questions both during and after the presentation, and an additional window will show the presenter(s) in real time.  The On24© software link will allow all the Summit presentations to be interactive and available to hundreds of participants, a greater number than ever before in the history of Blue Vault’s five previous Summits.

After Monday’s first panel discussion by industry experts, a second panel of asset managers will address the same issues in “What Do We Do Now – An Asset Manager Perspective.”  The afternoon will feature WealthForge, a fintech firm’s presentation, followed by three program sponsor presentations to the BDs and RIAs only by ExchangeRight, Cottonwood Communities, and Black Creek Group.

On Tuesday, the presentations will begin with a panel discussion entitled “Alts Electronic Business: A Discussion About Today’s Challenges.”  A second panel will answer the challenges with “Alts Electronic Business:  A Discussion About Today’s Solutions.”  Fintech presentations will include Centersky, iCapital Network, Envision Financial Systems, and Docupace.  Sponsor presentations in the afternoon will feature Triton Pacific and Nexpoint.

On Wednesday, May 6, the day’s presentations will begin with a panel discussion, “When COVID-19 Settles – What Will the New Norm Look Like for Platform Providers, Product Sponsors, BDs, and RIAs?”, followed by fintech presentations from SS&C Black Diamond and Riskalyze.  A panel discussion moderated by Tim Witt, Concorde Investment Services, will follow. Then, CNB Custody will address “Purchasing & Servicing Alternatives in IRAs and Non-Qualified Accounts”.   Exclusive presentations to the BDs and RIAs will include Bluerock Real Estate and Leitbox Portfolio Partners, after which BDs and RIAs will have a closed meeting to discuss the day’s presentations.

Thursday, May 7, will feature two panel discussions and presentations by fintech and custodial firms UMB Institutional Banking, The Entrust Group, and BNY Mellon | Pershing.  The afternoon will have presentations by NTR product sponsors Pacific Oak and Carter Multifamily, and another exclusive BD / RIA meeting.

Friday’s May 8 agenda will include presentations by Inland Real Estate Group, Legendary Capital, and CIM Group, as well as a final panel discussion to wrap up the week.  BDs and RIAs will have their final exclusive discussion meeting as the Summit ends.

Stacy Chitty, Managing Partner of Blue Vault, is thrilled and thankful that technology has provided a way to carry on with the Summit in spite of all the challenges presented by the pandemic.  Pulling together all the industry panel participants and product sponsors, learning how to manage the software, and getting the word out to all has been a monumental task, but it will all come together on May 4!

While attendance at this event is open to all industry professionals, the Asset Manager sessions are restricted to BDs and independent RIAs (not affiliated with a broker dealer) only.  Click here to register.
