North American colocation firm Cologix has finished work on another data center in Toronto, Canada.

Cologix and CIM Group announced today the completion of the 15MW TOR4 Scalelogix data center. Sat on a 3.4-acre campus at 105 Clegg Road in the Markham area of Ontario, the 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sqm) facility offers capacity for 1,000 cabinets over two planned data halls.

The facility utilizes free cooling and the company said the site features multiple physically separated Meet-Me-Rooms and fiber entrance vaults.

“Strong demand from major global cloud providers and prominent digital enterprises continues to drive us to actively enhance our Scalelogix portfolio throughout North America,” said Cologix’s chief revenue officer, Chris Heinrich. “TOR4 embodies our vision of providing cutting-edge hyperscale data center solutions that empower businesses to thrive with rapid connectivity, ultra-low latency, robust security, and essential network access, which are vital to helping our customers grow their businesses at the digital edge.”

Plans for TOR4 were first announced in June 2021; at the time it was set to offer 10MW. Cologix formed a joint venture with CIM Group for TOR4 last year.

“CIM Group believes that data centers are critical infrastructure assets. We are focused on growing our investment in state-of-the-art data centers throughout North America that accommodate the latest and future technologies,” said Avi Shemesh, co-founder and principal, CIM Group.

Early last year Cologix announced it would operate its hyperscale facilities under the Scalelogix moniker. The company said TOR4 would be the seventh Scalelogix facility and its fifth data center in Toronto.

Cologix has previously said it has invested more than CA$500 million (US$403 million) over three years to grow its footprint in Canada. Much of this came in 2019, when the company acquired both Colo-D and Metro Optic, and opened additional facilities in Vancouver as well as TOR3 in Toronto. 2021 also saw the company acquire a Zayo facility in Vancouver.

2021 saw real estate firm CIM Group sell its share in a portfolio of four US data centers it owned alongside fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty (1547) to investment firm Harrison Street and 1547.

CIM is separately funding Novva data centers, a firm developing data centers in West Jordan, Utah; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada; and Mesa, Arizona.
