Eagle Point’s Defensive Income Strategy Celebrates Fifth Anniversary with Over $5 Billion in AUM
Since launching the strategy in 2020, Eagle Point has originated and invested in over $8 billion of portfolio debt securities.

Eagle Point Credit Management LLC

Eagle Point Credit Management LLC (“Eagle Point”), a private credit investment manager, announced today that its Defensive Income Strategy has marked its fifth anniversary. The strategy originates and invests in Portfolio Debt Securities (“PDS”), which are primarily debt securities issued by credit funds to finance a portion of their portfolios. PDS is an asset class that Eagle Point identified and defined in 2020 and offers what the firm believes is a better, more defensive way to gain exposure to private credit.

Since its launch in 2020, Eagle Point has originated and invested in over $8 billion of PDS across a range of credit sectors, including BDCs, closed-end funds, private credit funds and commercial mortgage REITs. The strategy has attracted significant interest from institutional investors due to the high-quality, investment-grade nature of PDS coupled with a return profile that meaningfully exceeds that of typical investment-grade corporate credit. With over $5 billion in AUM and an 11-person dedicated investment team focused on PDS, Eagle Point is among the largest non-bank lenders in the market.

“When we pioneered this first of its kind strategy, we knew we had something special, but we couldn’t have anticipated the multiple ways in which we could generate attractive returns in this inefficient market,” said Dan Spinner, Senior Principal and Portfolio Manager for the Defensive Income Strategy. “We’re grateful to our investors globally for the trust and confidence they placed in us. Equally, we’re heartened by the deep relationships we have developed with our borrower partners, whereby we have provided innovative financing solutions that few others can offer.”

“Reaching the 5-year and $5 billion of AUM milestones is a testament to the strength of our proprietary investment approach, close relationships with borrowers and the trust of our investors,” said Thomas Majewski, Founder and Managing Partner of Eagle Point. “PDS have historically demonstrated resilience through both idiosyncratic credit events and broader market cycles, allowing us to consistently deliver results for our clients. We remain focused on identifying opportunities that drive long-term value for our investors.”
