Coverman Joins IPA as Director of Government Affairs and General Counsel

The Investment Program Association (IPA), the primary advocacy and education organization for the portfolio diversifying investments (PDI) industry, has appointed Anya Coverman as Director of Government Affairs and General Counsel, effective September 25, 2017. In the newly created role, Ms. Coverman will head the IPA’s Washington, D.C. office, working with IPA members and industry partners to collaboratively develop and execute the IPA’s public policy strategy. Ms. Coverman will also direct the IPA’s advocacy and outreach to executive, legislative, and regulatory bodies and officials at all levels of government.
Since 2012, Ms. Coverman has served as Deputy Director of Policy & Government Affairs and Associate General Counsel for the North American Securities Administrators Association. In this role, she served as NASAA’s primary liaison and senior policy representative to Congress and the Administration, including the Department of Treasury and Department of Labor, and key federal, state and self-regulatory agencies, including the Securities Exchange Commission and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. While at NASAA, she organized and facilitated the association’s internal working groups, including several specially focused on portfolio diversifying investments, including REITs and BDCs.
Ms. Coverman received her Juris Doctor from American University, Washington College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Miami. Prior to NASAA, Ms. Coverman practiced corporate and securities law at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig in Washington, D.C.
