Last year, CIM Group acquired one of the white whales of real estate in West Hollywood – the increasingly inexplicable Cemex Hollywood Concrete Plant. Now, the Mid-Wilshire-based developer is looking to turn the site into what may be the city’s future tallest building.
Wehoville reports that a community meeting held last week offered a first glimpse at the project CIM has planned for the site, which is named 1000 La Brea for its address. The proposed development calls for clearing the Cemex site, making way for a towering 34-story building featuring 514 apartments on its upper floors – roughly 25 percent of which would be designated as affordable housing.
At street level, the proposed apartment complex would include approximately 30,000 square feet of commercial space, dedicated to a grocery store. Other elements of the project include parking for 674 vehicles and 393 bicycles.
