Franklin Square Capital Partners Consolidates Brands under FS Investments
Leading alternatives asset manager prepares for expansion
August 17, 2016 | Franklin Square
PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 16, 2016 – Franklin Square Capital Partners, a leading alternative asset manager, today announced that it is consolidating its brands under FS Investments. The firm’s name is now FS Investments and its affiliated broker-dealer, FS2 Capital Partners, is FS Investment Solutions. The transition coincides with the firm’s expansion of its alternative investment solutions, as well as its education and distribution platforms.
An abbreviation of Franklin Square, “FS” precedes the names of the firm’s investment funds – FS Investment Corporation (NYSE: FSIC) and its three successor funds, FS Energy and Power Fund and FS Global Credit Opportunities Fund – as well as its co-managed operating company, FS OneEquity. Since 2011, FS Investments has been the firm’s brand for all investor communications, including account statements.
FS Investments currently expects to launch two additional strategies and a liquid alternatives platform in 2017. With a broad menu of alternative investment solutions, FS Investments will be in a position to help clients build better portfolios by providing income, growth and diversification.
“We were at the forefront of designing income-generating, private credit alternatives to help investors build better, more diversified portfolios,” said Michael C. Forman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FS Investments. “Now we are working to offer more strategies, including private equity solutions, so that investors can diversify across the alternatives spectrum. The brand consolidation positions us to enter this new phase of expansion.”
Investors recognize that the traditional portfolio asset mix may not generate sufficient returns in this persistent low interest rate, highly correlated market environment, and they expect to have conversations with their financial advisors about alternative investments. As FS Investments offers an expanded suite of product offerings, it will continue to make education a priority to help investors and their financial advisors better understand and use alternative investments. Today, the company launched its new website at www.fsinvestments.com, which features new educational resources, expert insights on investing and enhanced fund research capabilities.
With added investment strategies and robust education, FS Investments will continue expanding its distribution into new channels, including financial institutions, RIAs, wirehouses and institutional platforms.
Founded as Franklin Square Capital Partners in 2007, the firm has grown assets under management to over $18 billion as of June 30, 2016. “As FS Investments, we will carry our legacy forward by continuing to focus on the investor protection, transparency and performance that has helped us build relationships of trust with our clients,” explained Forman.

I have been in the financial services industry for 20 years and our firm provides an education platform that gets clients to “think differently” about their financial picture. For many years we have communicated to clients the need to diversify their portfolios using alternative asset classes and more specifically, private non-traded investments. Due diligence on these types of financial vehicles is essential and when I learned about Blue Vault in 2010, our firm immediately began using their material as a tool to build confidence in the minds of our advisors on which alternatives to recommend to clients. I am impressed with the way Blue Vault continues to add value to their subscribers and I view their publication as a tremendous resource in today’s complex world.
