Private Credit Is Growing Up—and Its Technology Infrastructure Has to Catch Up
Private credit has attracted enormous amounts of capital, but a new technology venture is targeting a less visible challenge created by the market’s rapid growth.

Private credit has grown rapidly as an asset class, but much of the operational infrastructure supporting the market remains fragmented. Private markets infrastructure company iAltA is targeting that problem with the launch of Quorim, a new company established through a strategic partnership with electronic marketplace operator Tradeweb. The platform is designed to connect lenders, agents, custodians, fund administrators, and technology providers through standardized data exchange, automated settlement, and real-time reconciliation.

The initiative addresses a less visible challenge created by private credit’s growth. Unlike established public fixed-income markets supported by highly developed trading, settlement, pricing, and data systems, private loans often involve information moving among numerous parties and systems. Quorim is designed as a shared network layer that can work with existing third-party systems while providing participants with more timely visibility into loan positions and ownership information. The company is currently onboarding early participants from across the private credit ecosystem.

For wealth advisors, the technology behind loan settlement may seem far removed from portfolio construction, but better private-market infrastructure can ultimately influence the quality and timeliness of information available throughout the investment chain. As private credit becomes increasingly accessible through nontraded BDCs, interval funds, tender offer funds, and other wealth-channel vehicles, the industry’s ability to standardize and move data efficiently becomes increasingly important. The next phase of private credit’s growth may therefore depend not only on attracting capital and originating loans, but also on building the operational infrastructure needed to support an asset class operating at much greater scale.
