DTCC announced on September 28, 2026, that it has invested in iCapital and entered into a strategic collaboration with the alternative investment platform.
As an initial step, DTCC and iCapital plan to integrate DTCC’s Alternative Investment Product with iCapital’s platform. The companies said the collaboration will connect capabilities across transaction processing, data exchange, access, administration and reporting.
Why It Matters for Advisors
As alternative investments become more widely used in wealth management, the infrastructure supporting those investments becomes increasingly important.
Operational complexity can affect how efficiently advisors and home-office teams access information, process transactions and monitor alternative investment holdings.
Developments in alternative-investment infrastructure may influence:
- Transaction processing
- Data availability and consistency
- Reporting
- Investment administration
- Integration with existing wealth-management technology
- The ability to monitor alternative investments across a client portfolio
Better infrastructure does not change the underlying investment risks of an alternative investment, but it may help advisors and firms manage the operational side of alternatives more efficiently as adoption grows.
